“For thou shalt be a witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard” (Acts 22:15).

What would you think of 380 evangelists being set loose upon Cleveland and Rutherford counties for 8 days this summer? What if those heralds of faith were not sharing invitations to church but talking about Jesus the only Savior? What if they’re not doing witness training—instead they’re actually going out and witnessing?

That is what Reach Rutherford County 2016 is all about, set for July 21-23rd and Missions in the ‘Boro that is going on August 1-5th. We’re going off campus from our churches to cover three of our ten towns with Bibles, tracts, Gospel coins and most of all, the testimony of Jesus’ saving grace.

Reach Rutherford County is in year one with 181 volunteers from 12 churches working 24 different time slots for 11 different venues in Forest City: laundry mats, housing development construction and grill out, Grace of God Rescue Mission, flea markets and house-to-house evangelism.

Missions in the ‘Boro (third year of outreach) targets Ellenboro and Mooresboro with 12 churches and 200 plus volunteers sharing the Gospel message by all kinds of means: park ministry, sports clinics, nursing home and home bound outreach, housing development construction, a dental bus and house-to-house evangelism, along with service and cooking teams.

Last summer the 8 members of the house-to-house evangelism team covered 450 homes and discovered 40 prospects. This year there are at least 14 committed to going out door-to-door and an equal number on the Reach Rutherford side. Consider the impact of 380 going to the streets and highways!

This is how the church was meant to be! What would happen if every church fielded an evangelistic team? How about getting to the point where we don’t appoint church leaders unless they have a heart for evangelism? That would change the church culture and stir the waters!

Mobilization is defined as “organizing people for active service.” Is there any other kind? 5% of church members share their faith. Real faith has got to be shared! How about getting to the place where we raise that percentage by ten times to 50%? That would not be great compared to the early days of the church, but it would be a big improvement. Pray and work for mobilization!
